Description: The Digital Flood Insurance Rate Map (DFIRM) Database depicts flood risk information and supporting data used to develop the risk data. The primary risk classifications used are the 1-percent-annual-chance flood event, the 0.2-percent-annual- chance flood event, and areas of minimal flood risk. The DFIRM Database is derived from Flood Insurance Studies (FISs), previously published Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs), flood hazard analyses performed in support of the FISs and FIRMs, and new mapping data, where available. The FISs and FIRMs are published by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The file is georeferenced to earth?s surface using the State Plane coordinate system. The specifications for the horizontal control of DFIRM data files are consistent with those required for mapping at a scale of 1:12,000.This dataset is being published by the Mat-Su Borough for internal and external use. It has been superseded by an updated version effective 09/27/2019. See the dataset published by the MSB titled “Hazards_FloodZone”.

Data originated from SDE then exported to Shapefile and the editing process began. GIS started researching all of the ordinances that created the SPUD’s and comparing the legal description against the boundary within the layer. SPUDS were added to this layer through snapping the new boundary to the parcels and heads up digitizing at roughly 1:1,000. After a majority of the edits we done GIS converted the layer to a file geodatabase feature class to resolve topology errors between the boundary of the SPUDS and the Parcels.
